Profile
Ocean Park started as an oceanarium and has gone from strength to strength to become Hong Kong's acclaimed educational theme park. It has been the objective of Ocean Park to provide a balanced mix of entertainment, education and conservation facilities to guests. Ocean Park established the Ocean Park Academy (OPA) in 2004 to strengthen the education programmes offered. Through OPA, the Park runs educational tours for school children and "Teachers' Workshops" for teachers. Every year, the Park offers educational tours for around 40,000 students on six topics: giant pandas, dolphins and sea lions, birds, fishes, and plants. The Park's commitment to scientific research was initiated over a decade ago to take full advantage of the unique collection of insects, fishes, birds and marine mammals and a conservation foundation, Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong has been established to support important conservation efforts in Asia.
Marine attractions include the Atoll Reef displaying over 300 species of Indo-Pacific tropical coral reef fishes and sharks, the Shark Aquarium where guests walk underwater to view the over 10 species of sharks, the Sea Jelly Spectacular exhibit with thousands of jellyfish exquisitely displayed, the Ocean Theatre where the Park’s bottlenose dolphins inspire guests to connect with nature and help conserve their world, and the Pacific Pier where sea lions and seals frolic in the waves. In addition to the marine attractions, there are giant pandas, tropical birds and a host of reptiles to engage the guests.
nd for the brave at heart, there are rides, rollercoasters and performances to entertain. |
