Visitors to China are generally required to apply for visas in advance. For entry into China, visitors will need to apply for visas from Chinese diplomatic missions, consular posts or other resident agencies abroad authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as Chinese Embassies or Consulates. At the homepage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China (http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/eng/), you can find a link to your country’s embassy (The Ministry => Missions Overseas => Chinese Embassies) to download and print the visa application form or find out more on the application procedure.

Each Embassy or consulate has its own consular districts. Usually, applicants are required to apply for visas from the Embassy or Consulate that covers their registered place of residence.

If you come to China for business activities (including attending a meeting or an exhibition), a business visa (one-time entry) is required.

Due to the upcoming Beijing Olympics, there are changes in the visa application procedures. Applicants are now required to produce the following documents to support their China visa application:

1. invitation letter issued by organizer of IAC 2008, and
2. visa notice issued by Shanghai Pudong New Area Foreign Affairs Office.

Please supply information as listed below for Exhibitor/Attendee/Guest who needs the above two documents for their China visa application. Accurate information is essential. Full details must be clearly typed. This visa notice and the invitation letter will only be issued to individual of a legally registered organization who is participating in IAC 2008, and not on personal capacity. The number of invitation letter should be no more than the number of congress/exhibition attendees.
