IAC 2008 Logo - Creative Rationale

The central graphic in this logo design is a Chinese character for the word “Water”. Water is the basic unit of all living organisms, forming one of the most vital and intricate links to life. Water links up all land masses on this planet and connects all the continents across the globe. The “water” character is written in brushstrokes typical of traditional Chinese calligraphy, another “Chinese” feature that represents the host country, China. The Chinese elements in this logo, highlights the important role which China will continue to play in animal protection and water conservation. The character is also written in such a way that it forms the letters “I, A, C”. The background globe serves as a reminder of the worldwide significance for this international event and how all countries need to stand united together in a goal and mission to protect and conserve the aquatic environment.
